Hello and welcome to
Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin for the opening week of Super Rugby in New
Zealand, tonight it’s the Super Rugby Qualifiers round and Highlanders taking on the Chiefs. Both these teams
are looking forward to get their 2015 season campaigns off to a winning start.
Super Rugby is the
only tournament in the world that is played across so many different time zones
which makes listing the kick off times extremely difficult. This Super Rugby
2015 season is the 20th season of Super Rugby and the fifth season
featuring an expanded 15-team format. For sponsorship reasons, this competition
is known in Australia as Aster on Life Super Rugby, in New Zealand Investec
Super Rugby and in South Africa it is known as Vodacom Super Rugby.
The wonderful round-robin
matches took place from 13 February and are due to be completed on 13 June at every
weekend, the final match of this tournament will be held on 4 July 2015. This
will be the final season that will feature the current 15 team format.

The Highlanders are a New Zealand professional rugby union team based in Dunedin that competes in Super Rugby 2015. The team represents the North Otago, Otago and Southland unions. The Highlanders, who will finish the Super Rugby regular season with the second-best points total, with 53 - behind only the New Zealand Conference champion Hurricanes - and a franchise-record for wins, while the Chiefs finished with 48 points.
The
Chiefs are a professional rugby union team based in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Their primary home ground is Waikato Stadium. The Chiefs play in black, red and
yellow coloured jerseys.
The
Chiefs have thrown a couple of wildcards into the mix for their Super Rugby
playoff against the Highlanders in Dunedin on Saturday night. The Chiefs have
won all three matches against the highlanders and make them unbeaten in
the city.
